Ayenda Foundation celebrated its Third Annual Benefit Dinner

On May 29, 2008, Ayenda Foundation celebrated its Third Annual Benefit Dinner at the Canadian Embassy, hosted by the Canadian Ambassador Michael Wilson. The evening began at the National Gallery of Art with a private tour of the extraordinary exhibition of Afghanistan: Hidden Treasures from the National Museum, Kabul. Immediately following the tour, guests gathered for reception and a seated dinner at the Canadian Embassy. The evening program began with welcoming remarks by Ambassador Wilson of Canada, remarks by Ambassador Jawad of Afghanistan, an inspiring video message from Mrs. Bush in support of the Ayenda Foundation.

 

Mrs. Shamim Jawad, Founder and President of the Ayenda Foundation thanked the guests for their continuous support of the Ayenda Foundation and the Afghan Children. “We are confident that with the continued support and generosity of friends like you, we will be able to uplift the lives of these innocent children. We will be able to transform their hope for a peaceful and prosperous life into reality”. Proceeds from benefit dinner will go towards the building of the Ayenda Children Learning Center in Bamiyan. This historic valley suffered great losses during the three decades of war. The destruction displaced thousands of Bamiyan residents but their children remain determined in their passion for education.

 

The program was concluded with a closing remark by the Ayenda Foundation’s Co-founder Timothy McBride who thanked all the guest and the individuals and corporations who have pledged financial support for the Ayenda Children Learning Center currently under construction in Bamiyan province. The special evening was concluded with serving Dessert and Coffee on the roof top terraces at Canadian embassy.
