Timothy J. McBride joined Freddie Mac’s senior vice president of Government & Industry Relations in January 2005 and reports directly to the Office of the Chairman.
In this position, McBride is responsible for overseeing the corporation's legislative activities at the federal, state and local levels, as well as its relationship with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and other agencies within the executive branch.
McBride’s career spans two decades and includes leadership roles with two Fortune 100 companies as well as key positions with the Administration of former President George H.W. Bush. In the Bush Administration, McBride served as assistant to the President and director of White House Management and Administration, where he managed the daily operations of the White House and served as a senior advisor to the President on policy initiatives and political agenda. During his tenure, he also held the positions of assistant secretary of commerce for Trade Development and special assistant to the President. McBride also worked for a number of years in the Office of the Vice President of the United States.
Prior to Freddie Mac, McBride served as vice president, external affairs/public policy for the Daimler Chrysler Corporation where he was responsible for directing the corporation’s North and South American government relations. In addition, he was responsible for formulating public policy on a variety of issues, including fuel economy, emissions and automotive safety. Before that, he worked at Sun Company, Incorporated as director of communications.
Active in the community, McBride serves as board chairman of the Discovery Creek Children’s Museum, is president of the Business Government Relations Council and is a member of the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library Advisory Committee. McBride graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
